Yale University, New Haven, CT
Jun 14, 2010 – Jun 18, 2010
Scholarships Available! The Conservation Finance Camp at Yale is offering scholarships to Camp registrants on a first-come first-serve basis! Applicants interested in attending the upcoming weeklong session (June 14th - June 18th) on innovative conservation funding and financing strategies can now apply for scholarship money to offset camp costs. |
The course provides a framework for analyzing and packaging a wide range of cutting-edge sources of private and public conservation finance, including new types of philanthropic funds, public capital and private investment. The emphasis is on useful, hands-on tools for conservation practitioners. The sessions will feature many experienced conservation financiers as presenters, along with a knowledgeable core faculty. Speakers will describe case studies in emerging topics such as new sources of federal funding for conservation, innovative philanthropic and private partnerships, and multiple bottom line investment strategies. Confirmed speakers include: Pat Coady (Coady Diemar Partners); Cris Coffin (American Farmland Trust); Peter Howell (Open Space Institute); Jim Levitt (Harvard Forest); and other experienced leaders in the field. The core faculty are: Story Clark (Conservation Consulting); Brad Gentry (Center for Business and the Environment at Yale); and Peter Stein (Lyme Timber Company).
This highly interactive course is limited to 20 participants. It offers attendees the opportunity to combine the multiple techniques often required to fund successful conservation transactions, as well as to seek advice on their own conservation projects from experts in the field. The course will also include time to network with fellow participants and a cadre of experienced conservation leaders.
Tuition for the five-day course is $1000, including local transportation and meals. While participants are responsible for their own lodging, a block of rooms will be reserved in the downtown New Haven area for those who are interested.
Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. Once your application has been received and you receive an email confirmation of your acceptance to the camp, please submit payment and registration information online at:
