Phoebe had a tremendous impact on the conservancy from the late 70’s until 2000 as both a volunteer and, ultimately, executive director. Phoebe had a passion for the history of Berks County and was responsible for much of the information that the County and Historical Society now have about historic properties throughout Berks County. She wrote many grants, allowing the organization to complete rivers conservation plans and lead efforts on land protection. Though she will be missed, her impact on conservation in our community will be felt for a lifetime.

Below is one of our favorite photographs of Phoebe helping to install bio-logs on the Tulpehocken Creek to restore the eroded streambanks. Phoebe embraced a hands-on approach and improved many natural resources in her lifetime!
