John Quigley, Secretary - Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources

The Future of Land Conservation

John Quigley was named Acting Secretary of DCNR by Governor Rendell in April 2009. He joined DCNR as Director of Operations in 2005, and was named Director of Legislation and Strategic Initiatives in 2006. Quigley assumed the responsibilities of Chief of Staff in 2008.  During his first four years with DCNR, he has closely guided some of the department’s priority projects, most importantly working to help Pennsylvania address the impacts of climate change. Quigley has had a diverse career in the not-for-profit, public, and private sectors. He was the founding executive director of a non-profit economic development corporation and then served eight years as Mayor of the City of Hazleton.

 

Rand Wentworth, President - Land Trust Alliance

Federal Conservation Issues & Policy Update

Prior to joining the Land Trust Alliance in 2002, Rand was Vice President of the Trust for Public Land and founding director of its Atlanta office.  Previously, Mr. Wentworth was president of a commercial real estate development company.  He is a graduate of Yale University and holds an MBA in finance from Cornell University.  He serves on the Ethics and Accountability Committee of the Independent Sector.  The Atlanta Regional Commission presented Mr. Wentworth its Visionary Regional Leadership Award and the Urban Land Institute recognized him with its Community Leadership Award for creating a river greenway in Atlanta.  Morehouse College has honored Mr. Wentworth for expanding the Martin Luther King Jr. National Park in downtown Atlanta.
