US. CONGRESS

Hinchey/Wolf amendment
In a vote of 175-256, the Hinchey/Wolf amendment failed in the US House on 6/20/07. The amendment would have cut off funding to the US Department of Energy for establishing federal condemnation zones, euphemistically called “National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors”, to allow study and deliberation.

Although the amendment did not pass, this issue is gaining the attention of a growing number of Governors, state legislators, nonprofit organizations, and of course, regular citizens. Congress will face this issue again.
