Brandywine Conservancy held its third annual Field to Fork event on August 14th at the Hill Girt Farm in Chadds Ford.
H.G. Haskell, a third-generation farmer, followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, and has been growing vegetables for 34 years on the 700 acre farm. Most of his crop is sold to local restaurants or at his S.I.W. farm stand located on Creek Road along the Brandywine River.
Haskell says the dinners are a great fit: “We give the chefs all the veggies we have, and they buy the proteins. We have the cooking tent right outside the door to the barn, so the guests are face to face with the chefs’ while they’re cooking.”
