On September 14, French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust invited the community to join in celebration of the long-awaited official opening of the Thomas P. Bentley Nature Preserve. Protecting this preserve has been the Trust’s largest undertaking in its history.
Ray Bentley cut the ribbon in honor of his father, Thomas, a long-time neighbor and supporter of the Trust, after whom the preserve was named. To celebrate this momentous day in the Trust’s history, president Penny Hunt and executive director Bill Gladden welcomed guests to join programs including guided nature hikes, tours of the historic Warwick Furnace, water quality education, and scavenger hunts. French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust is thrilled with the community’s participation in Saturday’s festivities and is excited to host future events to help locals connect with the 108 acres of preserved open space.
“We look forward to offering programs, managing the grounds and future restoration projects to maintain the high water quality, plants, and animals that all contribute to this natural treasure,” said executive director Bill Gladden.

For the most accurate directions to the preserve, set your GPS to Warwick Furnace Rd. & Valley Way Rd. Glenmoore, PA 19343. From dawn to dusk, explore a one-mile loop trail and visit the historic Warwick Furnace. Parking is available. See the Trust’s website for upcoming programs at the preserve.
