The Land Conservancy of Adams County’s 23rd annual Art Auction will go virtual this year beginning Friday, Sept. 4.
The long-running auction, which raises money to support rural land conservation in Adams County, will feature a wide variety of artwork donated by local and regional artists and art collectors—everything from painting and drawing to ceramics, jewelry, and other three-dimensional work.
Auction artwork will be displayed online at BiddingOwl.com/LCAC and in person at the Adams County Arts Council, 125 S. Washington St., Gettysburg, from Sept. 4-23. The Arts Council’s gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm and Saturday, 10 am-2 pm.

“While we’re disappointed that we can’t gather for our traditional art auction this year, we’re excited about the opportunities presented by this online format,” said auction chairperson Bob Prosperi. “We hope this format will be appealing to folks who have health safety concerns due to the pandemic as well as those who can’t normally attend the auction in person—including people who live out of state—so that they can participate this year in helping support rural land conservation here in Adams County by bidding on some really beautiful art.”
The Land Conservancy will not hold its traditional First Friday Artists’ Reception this year, but the Arts Council will be open that evening, following the governor’s mandated social-distancing mandates, and the public is welcome to stop by to get a first look at the artwork up for auction.
The Land Conservancy of Adams County is a fully accredited, member-supported, nonprofit land trust that works to preserve the rural lands and character of Adams County. Since its founding in 1995, the Land Conservancy has worked with local landowners to preserve more than 11,000 acres of rural county land.
