This workshop offered by Penn State Extension teaches stewardship of your land. By enhancing or creating natural areas and woodland, landowners can enjoy recreation, aesthetics, wildlife, and water quality. If the lot connects to other lots, there is an opportunity to make an even bigger impact by getting neighbors involved! Join us to learn how landowners, of even just a few acres, can make a positive difference in the environment through planning and implementing simple stewardship practices.
Who should attend? Those who own land that is forested, have natural areas, or are interested in turning mowed lawn into natural areas, are invited to attend! This workshop is designed specifically (but not exclusively) for smaller landowners, those with 1-10 acres.
The workshop uses the manual The Woods in Your Backyard: Learning to Create and Enhance Natural Areas Around Your Home. This self-directed book will guide participants through the process of developing and implementing projects to enhance their land’s natural resources. Each participant will receive a complimentary, full-color, 108 page copy of The Woods in Your Backyard manual (a $23 value).
These workshops are sponsored by the Pennsylvania Forestry Association, Forestry for the Bay, Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Forestry, and Clearwater Conservancy.
